Q: What is the Chicago Vintage Mustang Club?
A: The CVMC is a group of people - men, women, families, who have come together in the Chicago area and surrounding suburbs. The idea was to bring people together to help each other with our 1964-1973 Mustang hobby. We welcome people with beautiful show winning cars, and people with rusty projects too. We help each other find local resources to get service or buy parts for their Mustangs. We swap parts with each other. We hold regular meetings to show off our cars, drive around in groups, attend criuse nights, and generally enjoy our cars together. We hold our own picnics and cookouts. In the winter, we get together for dinner and beverages, or meet at a member's home to help them work on their Mustang. It is informal. It is fun. and it is FREE!

Q: Is there a newsletter? (How do we keep in touch?)
A: The club does not use the post office to send out flyers, but rather keeps in touch through the internet. We have a web site based forum (discussion group) and a regular email list. It will be difficult to keep tabs on the group without internet access of some sort.

Q: How do I join the Chicago Vintage Mustang Club?
A: Send email to Jason Zimberoff (zim@svs.com) and tell him a few things about yourself and your car:
Your name, your email address, the town you live in, the year / color / engine / body style of your Mustang, and how you found out about the club. If you have a username on the VMF (Vintage Mustang Forum) send that too!

Q: Does the club have a home page?
A: There is a regular informational page and photo archive at: http://www.chicago-mustang.com

Q: Where can I go for day-to-day discussions with the group?
A: The folks at vintage-mustang.com have set up a forum just for us Chicagoans.

Q: What is the VMF (Vintage Mustang Forum) ?
A: The VMF is a web site set up for discussion of anything having to do with Mustangs. There are thousands and thousands of other users there with the same cars, ans tons of experience to help you with your problems. If you have a general question about Mustangs that isn't really specific to the Chicago area, the "main forum" at the VMF is the place to ask. Go to http://www.vintage-mustang.com and click on the link to the "Vintage Mustang Forum" and then click the "forums" tab to see the list of all of the forums there. The "main forum" is the one on the top. You will need to register yourself there to post messages, but you can read them all as a guest if you like.

Q: What does the Chicago Vintage Mustang Club have to do with the VMF (Vintage Mustang Forum)?
A: The idea to start the CVMC was hatched on the VMF. The first members of the club met on the VMF, but our goal from the beginning was to start a real Mustang car club in the Chicago area, and not only a club of local VMF members. We started a local group so that we could meet in person and help each other out. We started our email list right away, and the creation of the local Chicago discussion forum on the VMF was also instrumental in allowing us to organize the group at the beginning, and still serves as a great place to talk from day to day. But the VMF does not control our club, nor do we control the VMF. You do not have to use the VMF to join the club!

Q: Is there any merchandise available from the club (like t-shirts) ?
A: Yes! There are t shirts available. Contact Jason Zimberoff (zim@svs.com) for more info.

Q: What does Yahoo! have to do with the club?
A: In addition to the VMF Chicago forum mentioned above, we also have created a free email list at Yahoo! Groups. Once I add you to the mailing list, you will get email sent to the group by anyone else in the group. The traffic on this list is not always very large, as most of the day to day discussions take place in the VMF Chicago forum. But some people do prefer to use email. All meeting notices will also be posted to the forum, and sent out thru the email list at the same time. Once you send in your email address to join the club, you will be added to the Yahoo! mailing list.

Q: How do I log into the club mailing list pages at Yahoo Groups ?
A: Just because you have been added to the mailing list, does not mean that you can actually log into Yahoo! right away to manage your email settings. You do have the right to register a username there (which can be used for any of Yahoo's services) and then log in to see the club's email list area. If you cannot figure out how to do this, simply go to the following page and follow the directions:

You will need to know the email address you used when you signed up to the mailing list in the first place.

Q: How do I send a message to the whole group via email?
A: Any message sent to chicago-mustang@yahoogroups.com will go to the entire list. Please use this with caution, as people do not like to get lots of extraneous email. Please stay on topic on the Yahoo Groups email mailing list.

Q: Can I read all of the old posts to the mailing list?
A: Yes! Once you log into Yahoo, and get it to recognize that you are a member of the group, you can go to:

And then look for the link to "Messages" on the left side of the screen.

Q: Where can I find out about upcoming events?
A: Watch your email for group announcements, or go to the Chicago VMF discussion forum.

Q: How do we pay for club signs, handouts, business cards, etc?
A: Proceeds from T Shirt Sales, donations, and income from helping out at local car shows are used to buy supplies, pay for the website, and subsidize food and drinks for winter parties.
